fresno detox

so my stay in fresno has more or less been infuriating with complete access to a television. and consequently, my political apathy has subsided.

during the 04 election i was out on the streets and on campuses rallying for democratic support and attempting to get people to register. i was that annoying skinny filipino boy with a messenger bag and glasses talking about why everyone's opinion matters. when kerry lost, and i discovered that my college campus had no increase in voter turn-out, i grew apathetic.

i'm extremely excited that politics has moved me again. it's made me infuriated, it's made me cackle, it's made me smile. i've been soaking in as much of it as i can, eavesdropping on conversations in bars, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, BBC, PBS, rush limbaugh, ANYTHING. i love noticing the small differences in reporting, analysis, headlines, everything.

i think most of all, i like seeing other people riled up and passionate again. and with sarah palin on the GOP ticket, shit just got real. i love it. im excited, and im just a little bit sad i'll be mailing my absentee from paris when november rolls around.
