one day when i was waiting for the bus, i sat on a bench and noticed it was broken. under my weight it fell sharply towards the ground.
about a minute later a heavier woman sat on the opposite side of the bench rather quickly and catapulted me into the air. she looked at me, scanned me from head to toe, looked at herself and frowned. it was as if you put us both on a scale and she was the obvious winner, sagging low to the ground while i soared in the air.
now i know i weigh about as much as a furless anorexic cat, but i made it my personal goal to make this woman feel better about her weight. so i pretended to yawn and shift my weight, as if it was an unfair scale. i sat at the edge of the bench and pushed down without making it look obvious. the bench shifted and we were now equal. my legs started to give out trying to outweigh a heavy woman.
so i decided to pretend to look at the bus schedule. i sat up and she shot back down to the ground. then as i sat down, i threw myself on the bench to make her feel as light as air. she shot up instantly and i was suddenly heavier. she looked at me again, then looked away. my body and legs started to give out, and she slowly started to lower and i started to rise.
as the bus pulled up i sat up first quickly to make her drop to the ground seem significant, like we were actually the same weight. she sat up slowly, looked at me, and frowned. "yes im fat," i imagined her saying. "you're only making things worse by trying to help me."
